Bot Settings
Learn about all available settings to customize your chatbot — from name and colors to messages and behavior.
Accessing Settings
To access settings for any bot:
- Open the dashboard and navigate to the bots list
- Click on the bot you want to modify
- Navigate to the "Settings" tab
💡 All changes are saved immediately when you click "Save". You can also preview the effect in the "Widget" tab right away.
Editable Fields
Below is a detailed explanation of each bot settings field:
📝 Bot Name
The internal name for the bot that appears in your dashboard and bots list. This name is not visible to visitors in the chat widget.
💡 Tip: Use descriptive names like "Support Assistant — Main Site" instead of generic names like "Bot 1" to make management easier when you have multiple bots.
📋 Description
An optional field to describe the bot's purpose. It only appears in the dashboard and is useful for documenting why the bot was created and its target audience.
🎯 System Prompt
The core instructions that govern the bot's behavior and personality. This is the most powerful tool for customizing bot responses. See the "Creating Bots" page for comprehensive examples and best practices.
When editing the system prompt, keep in mind:
- Changes affect all new conversations immediately
- Ongoing conversations are not affected until the visitor starts a new one
- Always test changes in the preview before relying on them
🌐 Language
Sets the primary language for the bot:
| Option | Behavior | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic | Always responds in Arabic | Arabic-only websites |
| English | Always responds in English | English-only websites |
| Both | Responds in the language of the message | Bilingual websites |
🎨 Primary Color
Sets the primary color for the chat widget. This color affects:
- Floating chat button — Background color of the round button at the bottom of the page
- Header bar — Color of the top bar in the chat widget
- Send button — Color of the message send button
- Message bubbles — Color of user message bubbles
💡 Tip: Choose a color that matches your website's brand identity. You can use any color via the color picker or enter a HEX code directly (e.g., #D4A853).
👋 Welcome Message
The first message that automatically appears when a visitor opens the chat widget. This message is important because it sets the first impression.
Welcome Message Best Practices
- Keep it short — One or two sentences are enough. Long messages discourage visitors
- Be friendly — Use a welcoming, warm tone. Add an emoji if it fits your brand
- Mention what you can help with — Tell the visitor what kind of questions the bot can answer
- Avoid overpromising — Don't say "I can help with everything" — be realistic
✅ Good examples:
- "Hello! 👋 I'm here to help. Ask about our services or pricing."
- "Welcome! How can I help you today?"
- "Hi! Ask about our menu, hours, or book a table."
❌ Poor examples:
- "Hello" — Too short, doesn't explain anything
- "Welcome to our company. We are a leading technology company founded in 2015 and we offer various services..." — Way too long and boring
💬 Bubble Message
The short text that appears next to the floating chat button (the circular bubble) at the bottom of the page. Its purpose is to catch the visitor's attention and encourage them to click and open the chat.
Tips for writing an effective bubble message:
- Keep it very short — 3 to 7 words maximum
- Use a question or call-to-action format
- Add an emoji to catch attention
Examples:
- "Need help? 💬"
- "How can we help?"
- "Chat with us! 👋"
🖼️ Bubble Icon
You can customize the floating chat button icon. By default, a standard chat icon is displayed. You can change it to:
- Default icon — A simple, familiar chat icon
- Custom image — Upload your company logo or a custom image (recommended: square image, at least 100×100 pixels)
💡 Using your company logo as the icon increases visitor trust and makes the chat widget feel like a native part of your website.
🗑️ Deleting a Bot
If you no longer need a specific bot, you can permanently delete it from the settings page.
How to Delete
- Navigate to the "Settings" tab on the bot page
- Scroll down to find the "Danger Zone" section or the "Delete Bot" button
- Click the delete button and confirm the action in the confirmation dialog
⚠️ Important Warning — This Action Cannot Be Undone
When you delete a bot, the following is permanently deleted:
- All bot settings and system prompt
- All uploaded documents and training content
- All conversations and message history
- The embed code stops working immediately
💡 Instead of deleting the bot, you can simply remove the embed code from your website to stop the chat widget from appearing while keeping all data and conversations.
